How to connect Outlook users to Office 365

How to?

When performing an Exchange to Office 365 migration you might find you have issues getting users Outlook to connect to the Office 365 account (Local exchange will often be left active so users AD accounts will still contain local exchange attributes.).

If you create new profile and enter the 5 registry values (in the AutoDiscover key) you should be able to get around this.

You can create a batch file which creates the new Office 365 profile and makes it the default. The batch file can then launch a registry update file.

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Profiles\O365

reg add “HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook” /v DefaultProfile /t REG_SZ /d “O365” /F

c:\AutodiscoverFix.reg

The AutodiscoverFix.reg file should contain the following information.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover]

“PreferLocalXML”=dword:00000001

“ExcludeHttpRedirect”=dword:00000000

“ExcludeHttpsAutoDiscoverDomain”=dword:00000001

“ExcludeHttpsRootDomain”=dword:00000001

“ExcludeScpLookup”=dword:00000001

“ExcludeSrvRecord”=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover\RedirectServers]

“autodiscover-s.outlook.com”=hex(0):

“autodiscover.hotmail.com”=hex(0):

After running these updates outlook should open and configure the new office 365 profile.
