Tell us more about your role and what it involves?

I am a Service Desk Analyst here at Bridgeall. My role mainly involves the day-to-day management and upkeep of the service desk. But also involved with general IT support and helping our clients and staff as best I can. Dealing with simple and complex issues in a timely manner.

If I had to describe it, it’s like the old saying of “four seasons in one day” we handle a wide range of issues every day.

How long have you been working at Bridgeall?

Just over a year now.

What do you like most about your job?

Definitely the team. My team, “Managed IT”, is a great group of friendly folks who I can count on when in a bind. I also really enjoy helping people as its satisfying to hear the “thank you very much you’re a superstar” at the end of a tough ticket.

What does a typical day for you look like?

It’s hard to say, we face so many different challenges day in day out. Typically, I log in and spend the first part of the day tidying up the service desk for any tickets that came in while we are out of hours, then completing my daily checks, these are proactive checks that help us prevent system failures. From here I tend to handle any tickets that come in or reply to any emails I’ve missed. This usually involves responding to the most urgent tickets first. If the service desk is quiet, I move onto the more “Admin” tasks, one of these being vulnerability management. We use a number of tools to scan our clients’ devices for any outdated software and vulnerabilities, it’s then up to us to resolve these remotely or reach out to the client to arrange a resolution. I tend to go the remote route and have written a good few scripts to help with this.

What is your background?

I graduated from Uni in 2025 with a degree in Cyber Security and Forensics from the Edinburgh Napier University. During Uni I got my cisco CCNAv7 certificate and not long into this job I got my MS900 certificate.

I use a wide range of technologies, but my favourite is definitely PowerShell at the moment. Coming from a Linux background PowerShell is the closest alternative I get in Windows. I typically use this to script automations, install applications, or action any remediations needed.

What is it like working at Bridgeall?

Bridgeall is a great company to work for. My team currently has 10 people, and we all get on well and won’t shy away from helping one another.

Favourite project you’ve worked on?

We are currently working on a project which involves setting up a few Linux servers. I can’t really say too much on the project itself but coming from a Linux background its nice to go back to my roots a bit, even though I have a more hands off role.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Currently working on building a motorbike, essentially from scratch. It’s a long process and a steep learning curve but I’m really enjoying my time with it. Just over the weekend I managed to get it running nicely for the first time, so who knows where ill be with that in a few months. Other than that, I play guitar and do the odd open mic night in a couple pubs on Sauchiehall street.

Something on your bucket list?

I would love to do a proper tour of Europe, America, and Asia on my bike. Not all at once though, that seems too much for me.
