Microsoft has confirmed that InfoPath Forms Services in SharePoint will be retired on 14 July 2026. After this date, InfoPath browser forms and legacy SharePoint 2013 workflows will no longer function in Microsoft environments.
For organisations still relying on InfoPath for business-critical forms, approvals, and workflows, this is more than a platform update, it represents a significant operational and business risk.
Many organisations continue to depend on InfoPath for HR requests, project approvals, onboarding forms, compliance processes, and internal workflows. Once support ends, these processes may stop functioning entirely unless action is taken before the retirement deadline.
As a Microsoft Solutions Partner, Bridgeall is already supporting organisations across the UK to assess legacy InfoPath environments, understand business impact, and prepare for the July 2026 deadline.
What Is Being Retired?
InfoPath Forms Services has been part of SharePoint for many years, allowing organisations to create browser-based forms and workflow-driven business processes without traditional development.
However, Microsoft has now fully retired InfoPath as part of its wider move toward modern Microsoft 365 and Power Platform technologies. The retirement aligns with the end of extended support for InfoPath Client 2013 and legacy SharePoint workflow infrastructure.
Key InfoPath Forms Retirement Dates
Microsoft has confirmed that InfoPath Forms Services and SharePoint 2013 workflows will reach end of life on 14 July 2026
After this date:
- InfoPath browser forms will stop working in SharePoint Online
- New forms can no longer be published
- Existing forms will no longer accept submissions
- SharePoint 2013 workflows will cease functioning
- Legacy admin controls and configuration settings will be removed
There will be no extension or grace period beyond July 2026.
What Happens If Organisations Do Nothing?
For organisations still using InfoPath, the impact could be significant. Once retired, forms, workflows, and automated processes that businesses rely on every day may suddenly fail. This can lead to:
- Operational disruption
- Failed approval processes
- Loss of business-critical functionality
- Increased security and compliance risk
- Greater technical debt and reactive remediation costs
Many organisations underestimate how deeply InfoPath is embedded across SharePoint environments, particularly within legacy departmental solutions developed over many years.
Why Microsoft Is Retiring InfoPath
Microsoft is retiring InfoPath in favour of modern cloud-based technologies that offer improved security, scalability, integration, and user experience.
The Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate, is now the strategic direction for forms, workflow automation, and business process modernisation within Microsoft 365. Unlike InfoPath, these platforms continue to receive ongoing investment, new capabilities, and long-term Microsoft support.
