Project Description
We partnered with Haig Housing, the UK’s leading housing charity for ex-Service personnel, to deliver a modern SharePoint intranet that supports employee wellbeing, improves communication, and makes information easy to access.
The platform provides a central, user-friendly digital workplace where staff can stay informed, find key documents, and feel more connected across locations, with features such as internal news, recognition “shout-outs,” structured document storage, and departmental spaces.
The focus was not on complex technical change, but on creating a clear, scalable structure and enabling Haig Housing to confidently manage and grow their intranet independently.
About Haig Housing
Haig Housing Trust is the UK’s leading housing charity dedicated to supporting ex-Service personnel. With over 1,500 homes across 50 locations, we provide affordable, well-managed houses, flats and maisonettes to veterans in housing need including those transitioning from military to civilian life.
Our properties range in size and open up pathways not only to a home, but also to advice, guidance and connections with other veteran-focused charities. We’re proud to have served the British veteran community for nearly a century.
Challenges facing Haig Housing
As a geographically dispersed organisation supporting a large and varied property portfolio, Haig Housing needed a better way to connect staff, share information, and simplify access to everyday resources.
Key challenges included:
- Information and documents stored across network drives, making them hard to find and manage
- Limited visibility of organisational news and updates
- A need for a platform that could grow over time without requiring heavy ongoing technical support
- Ensuring staff could easily access policies, procedures, and support resources
Haig Housing wanted a modern intranet that would not only improve communication, but also promote wellbeing, recognition, and a stronger sense of community across the organisation.
The Solution
We designed and delivered a scalable SharePoint Online intranet using Microsoft 365 tools and out-of-the-box functionality, giving Haig Housing a strong foundation they can build on themselves.
The solution included:
- A user-focused homepage with news, staff recognition, quick links to everyday tasks, and access to key policies and resources
- Department sites and a self-service help site will be introduced to make information easier for staff to find and use, ensuring key resources are well organised and accessible without relying on informal knowledge or repeated support requests.
- Structured document libraries will support a move away from network drives, improving document organisation, version control, and searchability so teams can collaborate more effectively and access up-to-date information.
- Training and supporting documentation will be provided to enable Haig Housing to manage and develop the intranet internally, ensuring the confidence and capability to maintain and grow the platform over time.

Results – Benefits to the client
The new intranet provides Haig Housing with a modern, easy-to-manage digital workplace.
Key benefits include:
- Improved communication through integrated news and Teams notifications
- Easier access to documents, policies, and everyday resources
- A more connected workforce through shared updates and recognition features
- Reduced reliance on network drives with better document structure
- Confidence to manage and expand the platform internally
The result is a sustainable intranet that supports both day-to-day operations and future growth.
