Offshore Helicopter Services (OHS) partnered with Bridgeall to migrate several terabytes of data and custom workflows from an on-premise SharePoint environment to Microsoft 365.
Operating 24/7, OHS needed a secure, low-downtime transition from the Babcock domain. Bridgeall designed a controlled migration process to ensure data integrity and business continuity. The result was a modern, cloud-based collaboration platform that improved communication, increased productivity, and delivered lasting cost efficiencies.
About OHS
Offshore helicopter services are a vital transportation and logistics support system for the offshore oil and gas industry, wind energy, maritime research, and emergency services. They are used to transport personnel, equipment, and supplies to and from offshore locations, such as oil rigs, platforms, ships, and onshore bases.
Challenges facing OHS
Bridgeall needed to build a completely new staging environment, where time-critical backups were essential. We received data from Babcock, processed it within our environment, and then migrated it to the new setup. The restoration of data and execution files for new departments had to be completed rapidly, as extended downtime was not an option. All existing data had to be preserved, and system downtime kept to an absolute minimum to avoid disrupting business operations. Since the organisation operates 24/7, we only had a very limited window in which to carry out the data migration.
Bridgeall successfully migrated a large volume of data from SharePoint On-Premise to Microsoft 365 under tight operational constraints. The migration was required as part of a company transition away from Babcock. Since Babcock could only provide a SharePoint backup, Bridgeall first had to create a dedicated on-premise SharePoint instance, restore the provided database, and then perform the migration to M365.
Given that Babcock managed the original environment and the data was highly sensitive, the process required a disciplined and tightly controlled approach. With only a small window available for data transfer, the migration had to be executed with precision to ensure data integrity, security, and minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
