STV, a prominent player in the television and media industry, faced internal communication challenges. While email remained the primary tool for distributing company news and updates, teams struggled to access the right content beyond that, with the existing intranet no longer fit for purpose.With a 500+ workforce spread across the UK, there was a clear need for a more centralised, interactive platform to support internal collaboration and knowledge sharing.
To address these challenges, STV chose to implement a modern SharePoint intranet, creating a dynamic hub for internal communication, collaboration, and employee engagement across the organisation.

About STV
STV is a commercial public service broadcaster and producer with bases across the UK. On-air, STV reaches more than two in three Scottish adults every month through its TV channel and streaming service, STV Player. Production group STV Studios is a portfolio of 20+ production labels which create scripted and unscripted content for a range of national and international broadcast networks and streamers.
Challenges facing STV
STV was facing growing challenges around internal communication. Without a fit-for-purpose centralised platform, employees struggled to connect with the tools and resources needed to work more efficiently, with important updates scattered across existing channels making it easy for key messages to be missed or overlooked over time. This fragmentation impacted everything from strategic alignment to employee engagement.
What STV needed was a modern, centralised digital workplace: an accessible, intuitive hub where employees could stay informed and easily find what they needed to do their jobs. This included:
- Access to the latest company news and leadership updates
- A centralized and easily navigable policy hub
- Department-specific guidance, resources and essential documents
- Launch points for key tasks and business processes
- Support resources across IT, HR, and finance
- Direct links to web-based tools, templates, forms, and internal applications
- Clear visibility of company strategy and social impact agenda
By delivering this vision through a modern SharePoint intranet, STV aims to not only improve internal communication, but also create a more connected, empowered, and productive workforce.
Following a successful tender process, Bridgeall was selected as the partner for STV to design and implement a modern intranet that would serve as the new hub for internal communications. Leveraging STV’s strong background in media and storytelling, we created a visually rich, engaging platform that aligned with the company’s brand and culture.
Key elements of the solution included:

- Intuitive navigation and content layout to enhance usability

We also trained around 35 content editors, delivering tutorials to ensure they knew how to maintain and update the new system. The holistic training incorporated how to create and curate content including appropriate imagery selection and effective file and document management.
