It’s been a while since our last Meet the Team blog but we’re back and we’re talking to our Senior Microsoft 365 Consultant, Andy Moore. We find out more about Andy and his role here at Bridgeall.
Tell us more about your role and what it involves?
I am a Senior Microsoft 365 consultant which includes designing solutions in SharePoint and Power Platform. I specialise in the design of SharePoint intranets and document management solutions with a focus on creating intuitive user experiences for users and document management systems designed to maximise security and compliance and minimise risk.
How long have you been working at Bridgeall?
I joined Bridgeall in September 2023.
What do you like most about your job?
I like the variety of projects. I have no repetitive tasks in my job. I’m heavily involved in sales and meeting new clients and with each new client we are given a new problem to solve. Most of all I enjoy putting together prototypes after that first meeting with a new client.
What does a typical day for you look like?
I generally work on 2 to 3 projects a day. The number of meetings varies from week to week, but there usually aren’t too many, which allows for a flexible working day. My work often involves collaborating with customers to design sites, migrate documents, and configure solutions tailored to their needs.
What is your background?
My background is actually more as a graphic designer who learned HTML and CSS. This fascination with code grew into various IT jobs starting in 2004, building ASP and SQL applications. When my employer at the time adopted Sharepoint 2007, I built my first intranet, and I’ve built many more since.
What is it like working at Bridgeall?
What I like about being a consultant at Bridgeall is unlike many businesses in the consultancy sector we aren’t really under any pressure to bill every hour of every day. We are encouraged to try and generate new business but ultimately the focus is on retaining existing clients by offering value for money and building trust.
How have you found moving to working from home?
I’m probably not the biggest fan of working from home. I was always more of an alley cat, never a house cat. Bridgeall have been really supportive by giving me frequent trips to Glasgow… putting me up in a hotel and putting up with me in the office.
Favourite project you’ve worked on?
I have 2 favorite projects from my time at Bridgeall. We built an intranet for STV (Scottish Television). This was a great project as a designer, as STV, as a television production company have great material and imagery to work with. The people I worked with at STV are fantastic, and very receptive to the ideas I put to them. I was really happy with the results.
My other project is a fuel storage company in England. I had 18 years’ experience in oil and gas before joining Bridgeall and this project was my first return to the oil and gas industry since moving into technology. Great people to work with and I felt having so much knowledge in that sector I could offer the client solutions already tailored to their needs.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
In my spare time I volunteer in my friend’s hotel kitchen. An unusual hobby but I’ve been a part-time chef for a few years and it’s hard to describe if you’ve never worked in a commercial kitchen but there’s something really enjoyable about it. Lots of free food and you meet a lot of interesting people.
Something on your bucket list?
Visit Germany again. I went to Berlin and loved it. Next time I think I’ll try Munich and Hamburg in one trip.
