Project Description

Bridgeall was engaged by Glenmorangie to review an existing Power App that was experiencing performance challenges and low user adoption.

Following a full audit of the application, we implemented a series of enhancements to improve performance, usability, and overall user experience, resulting in a solution that better supports employees in their day-to-day work.

Glenmorangie company

Established in 1843 in Tain, Glenmorangie is a leading Highland single malt Scotch whisky distillery owned by LVMH. Recognised as a leader in “cask finishing,” a process involving secondary maturation in wine, port, or sherry casks to add complexity.

Challenge

Glenmorangie had started adopting the Power Platform, with in-house capability and several Power Apps already in use.

One of these apps, Cassandra, was facing performance challenges. Alongside this, the team wanted to improve their development standards and ensure they were following best practices.

To achieve this, they needed a trusted Power Apps partner to review the app and help enhance their overall approach. And help them implement performance improvements for Cassandra.

Solution

Bridgeall were selected to help Glenmorangie with this. We carried out a 2-stage project including a full application audit of the existing application and then the improvement work required to get the app up to best practice and the required performance.

Power Apps Audit

The Power Apps Audit was carried out by one of our Senior Power Platform consultants to identify the underlying issues. We did a full review of the application setup, code review, connectors and environment, application lifecycle management approach and governance & security.  We identified a number of fixes that would help get the application to best practice.

Power Apps modernisation

Next, we moved into the improvement stage. We implemented a range of improvements to the application identified in our audit. Some of these include;

  • Built a new model driven app to improve and refresh the interface
  • Moved from SQL to Dataverse. Using dataflows to load the data from SQL to Dataverse to improve the speed of the application.
  • Adoption and roll out – we carried out training and support to help Glenmorangie become self-sufficient with the application going forward.
