Office Relocation and Impact

In 2024, we moved to a new office space in Glasgow that is one-third the size of our previous office. This move significantly contributes to our sustainability goals and helps reduce our carbon footprint in several ways:

  • Reduced Energy Consumption: A smaller office space requires less energy for heating, cooling, and lighting, directly translating to lower carbon emissions.
  • Optimised Space Utilisation: The new office is equipped with modern, energy-efficient systems, such as LED lighting with motion sensors and optimised HVAC systems, which help us minimise energy consumption.
  • Flexible Working Models: The move aligns with our flexible working model, encouraging employees to work from home and reducing the need for commuting. This has led to a 60% reduction in business travel and commuting impact.
  • Location in ULEZ: The new office is located within Glasgow’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), promoting the use of cleaner vehicles and sustainable transport, further reducing our overall environmental impact.
  • Excellent EPC Rating: Our new office has received an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of ‘Excellent,’ reflecting the high energy efficiency standards of the building and further supporting our carbon reduction goals (see info below).

Energy Management Approach

Our energy management approach aligns with ISO 50001 principles and includes:

  • Energy Monitoring and Analysis: We proactively monitor and analyse energy usage across our operations, including offices and Microsoft data centres.
  • Energy Efficiency Initiatives: We continually strive to enhance energy efficiency promoting energy-efficient technologies and practices, such as LED lighting, power management solutions, and optimised cooling systems.
  • Renewable Energy from Providers: Bridgeall’s energy provider, EDF Energy, has confirmed that over 90% of the energy they supply comes from renewable sources. This commitment to renewable energy significantly supports Bridgeall’s sustainability goals and reduces the company’s overall carbon footprint
  • Cloud First Approach: By adopting a cloud-first strategy, we significantly reduce energy consumption associated with physical servers and data centres, minimising the need for shipping and manufacturing.
  • Flexible Working Models: We offer fully flexible working models to our employees, reducing the need for commuting and office accommodation.

Environmental Management Measures

Since establishing a baseline for emissions in 2022, we have initiated various environmental management measures and encourage this through our property management/managed office, including:

  • Virtual Meetings: Prioritising virtual meetings for clients and staff to reduce travel and associated carbon emissions.
  • Energy-Efficient LED Lighting: Implementing energy-efficient LED lighting where possible.
  • Switch-Off Policy: Implementing a switch-off policy for unused electrical items to minimise energy consumption.
  • Flexible Working Models: Offering flexible working models to reduce the need for commuting and office accommodation.
  • Hardware Recycling: Ensuring the compliant recycling of redundant hardware through specialist providers, including secure data destruction and responsible disposal of electronic waste.
  • Server Reduction: Extending the lifespan of physical servers by repurposing them for less critical workloads, reducing e-waste and the need for new server purchases.
  • Azure Virtual Desktop: Implementing virtualised desktops to extend the lifespan of desktop PCs and laptops, reducing the need for new devices.

Emissions Reduction Targets

Bridgeall Ltd. has committed to achieving Net Zero by 2045 and has implemented several key actions to reduce emissions:
